Iranian short ‘Ceremony Night’ to vie in US

Iran’s short ‘Ceremony Night’ is to compete at the Slamdance Film Festival in the US.

Directed by Behnam Abedi, the short film ‘Ceremony Night’ has been selected to compete at the 2020 Slamdance Film Festival (SFF).

‘Ceremony Night’ is Abedi’s fourth short film.

The synopsis for the short reads “something strange happens in the re-opening ceremony of an abandoned funfair and disrupts everything”.

The short has participated in several festivals including Palm Springs International ShortFest and Flickers’ Rhode Island International Film Festival in the US.

This is the fourth time that Abedi’s short participates in a festival accredited by Oscars. If the short wins the best film award, it will qualify to be introduced to Oscars.

The cast members are Pejman Yavari, Amir Ahmad Qazvini, Navid Nouri, and Farshad Ershadi.

SFF is a showcase for innovative filmmaking. It has hosted several filmmakers that are now among the greatest names in the entertainment industry.

The fest is slated for January 24-30, 2020.
